Does Anxiety belongs to the family of emotions?--Detailed explanation of Anxiety, its symptoms, causes, complications and preventions against it, and also the treatment

Many people consider anxiety as an emotion which is completely a wrong concept. I want to make it clear to all that anxiety is not an emotion but a body's natural response to tension, stress, or any difficult situation.

Remember the words of mouth, difficult situation is only breathtaking until you decide to tackle it.

While responding to such strenuous situations, our body may show emotions like anger, sadness, joy, etc. along with some physical symptoms but anxiety is not emotion by itself.

We define anxiety as a feeling of being frightened about any upcoming situation, especially when you suppose yourself to be judged in that sitch.

                For instance, your first day at school, participating in any sports competition, going to a job interview, appearance in the college entrance test, crossing the street, moving to a new place, or before taking an important decision, you may face the symptoms of anxiety. But anxiety is not as simple as many of us think!

Based on the degree of facing this issue, we classify anxiety into two;

  1. Occasional anxiety
  2. Anxiety disorders

Occasional anxiety is permissible as it is an expected part of life and a normal phenomenon with every individual against any potential danger but if it is too extreme that it last longer than a month, and is interfering with your daily routine then these responses may go beyond anxiety into an anxiety disorder.

Symptoms of anxiety

There are no hard and fast rules to examine anxiety. It is your self-judgment whenever you feel something awkward like when your body and brain chemistry shows some unusual signs;

  • Irritability
  • Restlessness
  • Uncontrollable feelings or worries
  • Difficulty in concentrating on the work
  • Insomnia
  • Feeling weak or tired
  • Having the impulse to keep away from certain things
  • Rapid breathing
  • Increased heartbeat

All these signs fall under the umbrella of occasional anxiety can be treated by identifying the cause.

Causes of anxiety

The causes of anxiety cannot be mentioned specifically as they depend on the circumstances and environment in which an individual is trying to survive. One thing is clear that the environment and circumstances provided to the individual are not suitable for him, or he is unable to adapt and adjust to those surroundings.

The thing which is adorable and interesting for you, might not be the same for the other person and vice versa. For instance, you want to live in a hostel during your scholastic years but some of your fellows may hate hostel life the reason behind is the versatility of the upbringing of both, maybe you want to live alone but the other one feels it difficult and want the love and companionship of the family.

Your anxiety can also be the result of underlying health the issue though it is an early indicator of medical illness in some cases. Example of medical issues that can be the cause of your anxiety includes; Diabetes, heart disease, thyroid, misuse of any medicine, asthma, tumor, etc.

Ongoing worry for finances to make a good living for the whole family is a major factor of anxiety for most people.

The use or withdrawal of drugs and alcohol increases the risk of anxiety by 50 to 65 percent. Moreover, there is a lot of researches that focus on the heredity factor also i.e. your genetics can be a possible reason for anxiety along with environmental factors that trigger you to show fight or flight response in some situations.

Anxiety can also occur due to hormonal imbalance (brain chemistry).

Complications

Having anxiety accomplishes more than make you feel stressed. It can likewise prompt, or decline, other mental and physical conditions, for example,

  • Depression (which frequently happens with an anxiety disorder) or other psychological wellness issues
  • Digestive or gut issues
  • Headaches and ceaseless pain
  • Social isolation
  • Poor personal satisfaction
  • Suicide

There's no way to predict what will make somebody feel anxious, however, you can find a way to diminish the effect of symptoms, in case you're restless:

  • Get help early: Anxiety, in the same way as other psychological well-being conditions can be harder to treat on the off chance that you pause.
  • Stay active: Take an interest in exercises that makes you feel relax and that causes you to feel great about yourself. Appreciate social association and caring relationships, which can reduce your concerns.

So, if you are noticing the signs of anxiety in your behavior then keep yourself away from using Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.

Medication & Treatment

Anxiety medications typically include antidepressants and sedatives. They assist to balance brain chemistry and prevent anxiety attacks but treating anxiety is not a catch-22. If you are interested to get rid of your anxiety than the crux of the matter is to make your mindset that you can deal with this problem and you have to sort it out by yourself.

Note my words today, burdensome situations never last for the whole life. They come to go with a good solution to avoid undesirable circumstances later, so deal with them carefully.  If you are taking stress for the things that are supposed to happen in the future or the things that have happened in the past then leave all that away, show yourself in your present, put all your efforts into what makes you feel happy.

If you have to take a decision…listen to both, your mind and heart but if you have to choose one then go along with your heart because it never tells a lie and also never plays games with you. If you do so then there is no chance of the possible regret soon. Believe in your destiny and the efforts you have put in your work. Most important of all trust yourself!

It will help you a lot to seek motivation in yourself (intrinsic motivation) or you can listen to some motivational speakers like Jeff Keller.

Also, changes in your daily routine can be very effective to stay away from stress and anxiety you may cope with every day. Most of the natural “remedies” include caring for your body, taking part in healthy activities, and eliminating unhealthy ones;

  • Getting enough sleep
  • Meditating
  • Sharing your problems with your loved ones
  • Staying active and exercising
  • Try to think as much positive as you can
  • Eating a healthy diet
  • Avoiding alcohol & caffeine
  • Quit smoking

When to see a doctor?

See your doctor if;

  • You have an inclination that you're taking the stress excessively and it's meddling with your work, relationships, or different areas of your life
  • Your fear, stress, or nervousness is upsetting to you and hard to control
  • You figure out your anxiety could be connected to a medical issue
  • You have self-destructive considerations or practices — if so, seek emergency treatment right away
  • Your concerns may not disappear all alone, and they may deteriorate after some time if you don't seek help. See your doctor or a psychologist before your anxiety gets worse. It's simpler to treat if you get help early.
