What are the Mood swings?-- its symptoms, causes, and treatment

Mood swings refer to the quick and intense changes in mood. It may vary in its conditions, I mean it may be a slight, medium, or extreme change in your emotions depending on the mental condition.

    For instance, you are planning to hang out with your buddies, later you decide to stay at home or you are feeling extremely happy but in The next moment, you feel extremely sad.

Both are examples of mood swings!

It is healthier to experience mood swings but if you are experiencing Mood swings regularly then you should visit a psychologist and take the treatment since it is hazardous than anything.

The suicide rate of individuals associated with mood swing disorders are 60 times higher than the normal people.

These people are just like the butterfly in the image i.e. experiencing different feelings with their different colors of emotions at the same time considering their environment not suitable for their existence.

But the fact is that the real problem is not in the environment or their surroundings but in their thinking patterns and mental conditions due to several causes.

Causes

Patently, mood swings happen for a reason, so I have tried to put some possible reasons and causes from biological, psychological, and social perspectives;

  • Biological perspective: Unhealthy diet, Irregular sleeping patterns, Cardiovascular diseases, Hyperthyroidism, and Hormones imbalance majorly the estrogen imbalance is the leading biological cause of mood swings.

  • Psychological Perspective: People with Bipolar disorder, Dysthymia, Major depressive disorder, Schizophrenia, ADHD, Dementia, Cyclothymic disorder, Intermittent explosive disorder and stress may experience this problem frequently.

  • Social perspective: Taking drugs, comparing your social or financial status with others, feeling depressed due to family clashes, no social activities, and feelings of loneliness are a few social causes that can trigger your emotions in a fraction of seconds.
